THE CALL FOR INTERCESSORS

THE CALL FOR INTERCESSORS

Scriptural reference Gen 18:22

22) Then the men turned away from there and went toward Sodom, but Abraham still stood before the Lord. 23) And Abraham came near and said, ‘Would You also destroy the righteous with the wicked? 24) Suppose there were fifty righteous within the city; would You also destroy the place and not spare it for the fifty righteous that were in it?

The entire people of Sodom and Gomorrah had been taken away by King Chedorlaomer as captives after defeating them in a war. It took Abraham to rescue and restore them to their lands. Nevertheless, they did not change their wicked and abominable ways of living. As a result, the cry of innocent blood went up before God against the people.

In verse 22, we read that ‘two men turned away from there and went toward Sodom.’ We later see in Gen 19:1 that these two men were angels who were on a mission to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah. As I read, this portion of scripture really stood out to me and that is; ‘But Abraham still stood before the Lord.

He did that in order to intercede for the people of that land. He was certainly aware of the sinful lifestyle the people were living. Instead of condemning, he rather stood in the gap on their behalf.

Mostly, instead of having compassion toward those who are living helplessly in sin, we tend to ‘nail them to the cross.’ Such a character is not what our Father, Who is the true Judge, desires from us. In first Timothy 2:1 onwards, He rather urges us to supplicate, pray, intercede and give thanks on behalf of ALL people – whether good or evil. The reason being; He desires all people to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth.

It must be noted that this call is not for a select few. All believers have been given that responsibility. So I encourage you to begin interceding for your family, friends, country and the whole world. You are anointed to effect dramatic changes in situations that seem impossible only if you will persevere in your intercession. Who knows what would have happen had Abraham reduced the number of the righteous people to three. With that, Lot and the two daughters would have been enough to save the entire land from destruction.

Grace unto you,

THE ANOINTING OF INFLUENCE

Scriptural reference: Gen 41:37, 38& 40

37) So the advice was good in the eyes of Pharaoh and in the eyes of all his servants. 38) And Pharaoh said to his servants, ‘Can we find such a one as this, a man in whom is the Spirit of God? 40) You shall be over my house, and all my people shall be ruled according to your word; only in regard to the throne will I be greater than you.

Most of the time there is a question mark on the Christian involvement in Politics. We usually tag this field as a ‘dirty game’ and hence unbefitting for a child of God to be engaged in.

Of course, there are several activities such as lies and corruption that come along with such positions. However, we as God’s people are referred to as the ‘light of the world’ and also the ‘salt of the earth’ (Matt.5:13, 14). This tells us that each of us is supposed to be influential in his/her world.

It is of great essence that believers take up the position as lights and salts to see our world change for a better tomorrow. In all your undertakings, make sure you aim for the most prominent status whereby you can have an influential say in the affairs of people.

To get to such places, you would need to get the right qualifications and tools. As a student, prepare yourself to take up higher position in your chosen field. Don’t just settle for the place as an ordinary employee but as someone who can bring about positive changes.

Should God’s people remain complacent in this area, we would consequently give the ungodly the full right of making decisions for us, many of which would be in total disharmony with God’s will for us.

The people of this world are wallowing in darkness being dominated by the Satan as their god. Allowing such people to rule over us in Governments and our work places would have adverse effect our lives.

Imagine how the world would have been if the advisors of Presidents and others who occupy prominent ranks were children of the Light. However, since we have only a fewer number of such people, our nations end up in wars and other ungodly moves, with all of us bearing the eventual undesirable results.

So make the necessary changes so as to get to the top – for your voice which is that of the light is immensely required. Exhibit excellence in your daily routines and the God who is the Supreme promoter will elevate you to higher status at the right time.

When the righteous is in charge, things are different and can only get better. All his/her moves are backed by heaven. Angels are unleashed to help achieve the goals and targets.

This is what Pharaoh knew – thereby allowing a foreigner who had not even finished serving his sentence in the prison to suddenly take up such a place of power.

Grace unto you
