ACTING LIKE YOUR FATHER
Scripture Reference John 1:12
But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name.
God refers to the people of Israel as His own children. Before Christ came to the earth to save the whole of mankind, it was only the people of Israel who had a relationship with God. God’s covenant was only with the Israelites.
As God’s kids they enjoyed special privileges even to the envy of their neighbouring countries. The mention of the name ‘Israel’ most often would bring terror on their enemies – all because the shout of the King was among them (Num. 23:21).
The opening Scripture reveals some marvellous truth regarding you as God’s child. It says; but as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name. The thirteenth verse goes on to say; who were born not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man but of God.
Isn’t that glorious? Just as human beings give birth to humans of the same kind and a tree would bring forth another tree of its kind, likewise God has given birth literally to you as His kid. That’s why you have to demonstrate His character traits such as love, peace, joy, mercy, forgiveness, patience, faith, unity and others.
You can bring all these virtues forth to impact other lives because you have them in your spirit. All you need to do is to yield yourself to the Holy Spirit and learn to operate in life just like your Father.
